Meet the Ninjas

Josh Farkas

Founder + CEO

Josh founded Cubicle Ninjas with 2 startups, 13 children’s books, and 3 graphic novels under his belt. Today, he is proud to create with the most passionate team he’s ever seen.

In his spare time, Josh splits his time working on tackling the brave new world of Immersive Reality alongside his upcoming choose your own adventure graphic novel.

Preston Regalado

Partner + Creative Director

Preston's passion for art & design began as a youth volunteer for the Chicago Park Districts. Feeding his addiction for all things creative through high school, Preston's education culminated with a BFA in design from ILIS.

When the Dojo opened, Preston was Cubicle Ninjas first employee. Over a decade later, he is proud to be a managing partner and the head of a team of the top creative minds in the industry - researching, strategizing, and building what's next for our clients.

Michael Cooney

Director, Account Mgmt

Michael brings 17 years of sales and account management experience to the dojo. He’s had the privilege of building relationships with some of the most respected brands in the world. In his role, Michael is responsible for key account management and business development efforts. Prior to joining Cubicle Ninjas, Michael was an Account Manager with MicroStrategy, IntraLinks, SAVO and ADP.

Michael is a graduate of Miami University. He and his wife Amy live in Glen Ellyn (two miles from the dojo) with their three children Brennan, Kate and Sean.

Angie Grassmuck

Project Manager

Angie is the keeper of deadlines. She brings reason, logic and years of project management experience to the team. It’s her job to oversee the team’s efforts and ensure they’re on track. As the master of flow, she ensures deliverables exceed expectations within timelines.

Outside of the Dojo, she enjoys spending time outside in her gardens and watching as much football as she possibly can with her husband and two dogs.

Jeremy Freeman

Project Manager

Jeremy started his career at Cubicle Ninjas as a web developer. Over the years, he discovered a passion for client collaboration and moved to become one of Cubicle Ninjas Technical Project Managers.

Jeremy's unique technical experience allows him to lend invaluable insight to our clients and fulfill his greatest aspiration – helping others.

Tonya Machaj

Project Manager

As the mom of three boys who’ve never met a sport or activity that they don’t want to participate in, organization flows naturally through Tonya’s veins. She brings logic, strategy and a healthy dose of humor to make sure that her client’s projects are executed on time, within budget and beat expectations. Outside of the Dojo, she enjoys reading, watching the boys’ activities, and sometimes just sitting in a dark room enjoying the silence (until her kids find her, asking to be fed- again)!

Kelly Pisanko

Associate Creative Director

After earning her BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kelly found herself at the Dojo and fell in love with the adventure that is Cubicle Ninjas.

As the Associate Creative Director, Kelly believes design is most powerful when paired with quantifiable data and she approaches every project with a healthy mixture of logic, vision, and tenacity. She is immensely proud of her team’s drive to fight for the success of their clients and can’t wait to see what’s next for the Ninjas.

Daniel May

Art Director

Daniel's journey as a designer began at Northern Illinois University where he designed for the school and earned his BFA in Visual Communications. After college and a summer at Digitas LBI, Daniel joined the Dojo.

Years later, Dan has continued to refine his craft, eventually becoming one of Cubicle Ninjas Art Directors. He approaches life with a sense of humor and humility, keeping his environment and perspective always positive to facilitate creative greatness for him and his team.

Brian Stouffer

Production Director

Building off his experience in DIY filmmaking and music production, Brian has helped build the Cubicle Ninjas video team from the ground up. When he’s not working, he lives in idyllic — albeit massively sleep-deprived — bliss with his wife and their three rambunctious children.

Rocio Hernandez

Senior Designer

After graduating from DePaul University Rocio set off on a career in plant science, but soon couldn’t resist the siren call of art and design. On a whim, she enrolled in the graphic design program at College of DuPage and has never looked back.

Rocio believes that design can be a powerful force for good and hopes to someday combine her interests in science and design to make the world just a tiny bit better. In her spare time you’ll find her exploring the wilds of Chicago with her faithful companion Suki.

Kristen Starcevich

Senior Designer

Kristen began cultivating her design skills in high school after attending a career day and learning about graphic design and printing. Kristen went on to attend Harrington College of Design where she earned her BFA in Communication Design.

After some time at another agency in Chicago, Kristen found herself at the dojo, where she has spent her time honing her craft by ensuring she learns something new everyday that she can deliver to our clients.

TJ Fulfer

Senior Designer

TJ Fulfer is a designer, collaborator, visual storyteller, photographer, and musician. With over 15 years of experience in design, TJ strives for innovation, collaboration, and clarity in an ever-changing creative landscape.

TJ received his BFA in Graphic Design at Columbia College Chicago. Beyond the visual world, TJ makes a variety of music alongside his life partner, Meagan Zahora, and his close friends.

Chris Minter

Designer

Chris is a graduate of the College of Dupage with an A.A.S. in Graphic Design. He began interning at the Dojo while he was in high school and years later became a full-fledged Ninja.

Over the years, Chris has worked with the full spectrum of Cubicle Ninjas clients to create branded materials across industries – learning and growing as he went. Outside of the Dojo he enjoys video games, the outdoors, and cats.

Luis Ramirez

Lead Developer

The inner workings and mechanisms that create power, sound, and light has always intrigued Luis, but he always wondered, “How does it communicate or give direction?” The answer as he came to find was code: a set of instructions written, compiled and distributed. This was the beginning of a beautiful relationship and a gateway to JavaScript, PHP, and endless possibilities.

Fast forward to the present and you can Luis at the dojo, working with an awesome team of developers and designers making the world happy one web app at a time.

Jason Saba

Developer

Jason originally went to school for design and quickly realized that his true passion was for code. A jack-of-all trades, master of none, he has an inate ability to see the bigger picture on client projects which guides the decisions when authoring complex solutions. In his free time, (weather permitting), he can be found riding his Harley around town, maybe doing a little bit of gardening in his vegetable garden, or playing video games until the wee hours.

Miguel Benitez

3D Environment Artist

Miguel always had a love and passion for video games. One day while playing it hit him, "How are these environments created and how do I create them?" Back then there weren’t many schools or books teaching level design, game design or good 3D art. Miguel did what all old schoolers did...mod. He found every game he could get his hands on to mod or learn 3D modeling in.

Eventually he had enough experience and skills to work on his very first contract job as a Level Designer and 3D modeler and has never looked back. He’s always excited about what the future holds and what new experiences he’ll be creating for the next generation to enjoy.

We Live By A Code

The Way of the Ninja

Our method of work is defined by the pride we take in our craft. It is the duty of every ninja to honor the code to ensure we are delivering enduring quality, refined aesthetics, effective solutions, and collaboration built on a strong foundation of trust for both our clients. We aim to blend the best features of a design and creative marketing agency to achieve remarkable results.

Believing you can change the world is half the battle.

Our Ninja Code

What We Do Matters

When you partner with the right creative marketing agency, you can move mountains. A moment of change has unlimited potential for innovation and growth both inside and outside of a business. That’s why when we take on a project, we aren’t just working to impact the lives of our clients, but also the lives of their customers.

Our Ninja Code

We Make the Difference

Our clients love us because they can count on us. Whatever the need is, big or small, we pride ourselves on being a creative marketing agency that exceeds expectations, bends time, and saves the day. Because when it’s all said and done, we’re not satisfied unless our client is blown away.

Our Ninja Code

Collaborate to Achieve Greatness

We’re an all star team, but nobody can do it alone. As a creative marketing agency, we’re committed to bringing our best effort to every project, and we rely on our teammates to do exactly the same. Together, we can make things that are so much more than the sum of our parts.

Our Ninja Code

Always Be Communicating

Creativity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. We believe that the best way to bring new ideas into the world is through communication, exploration, and constantly challenging the status quo. As a creative marketing agency, we create things together, we solve problems together, and we celebrate our victories together.

Our Ninja Code

Let Your Work Speak for Itself

Treat every project like it’s your own, because it is! We don’t believe in making things just to make them — we put our heart and soul into everything we touch. When a creative marketing agency stands behind what they make and takes pride in everything they do, there’s no limit to what they can achieve.

Always explore new ideas & confront the status quo.

Our Ninja Code

Be Fearless

Routine is the enemy of good design. To break out of the trap of “how things are always done”, you have to constantly question and confront the status quo. As a creative marketing agency, we believe in learning the rules of great design — then working every day to find new and exciting ways to break them!

Passionately embrace the underdog projects.

Our Ninja Code

Never Back Down

Every project has value, especially the ones that need the most care and attention. As a creative marketing agency, we’ve always believed that the best projects are the ones that are worth fighting for. We never back down from a challenge — in fact, we seek them out! Because we know that’s where the most potential for greatness lies.

Fight for the end user.

Our Ninja Code

Plan Ahead

When we finish a project, it’s life has just begun. That’s why we always think ahead and envision how a project will perform in all the various places it will end up in the real world. We don’t make things for our creative marketing agency — we make them for everyone who’s going to see them in the future.

Our Ninja Code

Work With Integrity

The flipside of trust is accountability. We’re able to create amazing things as a creative marketing agency team because we’re all committed to bringing our best effort and holding each other to the pledges we make. Our openness to criticism lets us solve problems and constantly improve our processes.
